MEMORABLE HHI LEGENDS Breakfast

Inaccurate weather forecasting impacted (2) events I was covering this Memorial Weekend--Saturday evening forecast looked good until I got to the R-Phils game with PSU Buddies Scholesy (HHI LEGEND), Reitzy, and Nick (the latter 2 each playing 1 HHI Game) when 2 innings into it the rain came down and after spotting lightning & hearing thunder we Plan B'd it to the World Famous Pike Cafe which did turn out well. Today HHI LEGEND Old School Bruce wasn't going to make it to Breakfast as he had a Golf Outing scheduled, but that got cancelled due to the rainy weather forecast so he came to join HHI in what turned out to be golf-perfect weather. More importantly he brought our HHI LEGEND Commish Emeritus Collin who was cracking jokes and laughing out loud (LOL).

So Old School & The Commish joining the Wyo Buffet Crew was MEMORABLE as was having one of the most beloved players in HHI History: EX-Smoker Bob Dato who walked 2-3 blocks to get there. As I said to Bob who I was regularly matched up against back in the day--he made me cry by scoring on me regularly while simultaneously making me laugh with his dry sense of humor--what a Joker. Speaking of Jokers--I believe NBA MVP Nikola (Joker) Jokic found old HHI footage and then modeled his game after EX-Smoker Bob. We know HHI LEGEND Bob has been battling serious illnesses so it was great to see him looking good and showing us grandson pic from his HHIer Son Ben.

Also battling back among the "Dirty Dozen" in attendance was HHI LEGEND "Magnum" Mike Mathias who has been rehabbing challengingly from knee replacement surgery and although he looked pretty good walking into the restaurant unlike Bob Dato he drove the 2-3 blocks to the restaurant. We also had a couple other HHI LEGENDS Bob's there i.e. Sheriff Hacker Sponge Bob Square Pants & Energizer Bob Boni. The latter is still playing in the Wednesday Albright Lunch League along with FUn Frank & Alan "The Question" I-Vath-son who were eating with us this AM. When I asked Al & Frank who was the Star of that League--they each modestly picked the other (but were clear it wasn't Lender Bender who was out today). It's also notable that Frank is the President of the Conrad Weiser School Board.

HHI LEGEND Diggetty Doug Bails was there as were a couple of Police Officers that Vath rumored were looking for Bails. D.D. Bails noted he'd only been handcuffed twice and although I didn't hear those stories--Vath said they were good. Bails Bowling League adversary HHI LEGEND Dapper Dave was there and has started the countdown to his work Retirement from EnerSys. Last but not least HHI LEGEND Pat Steaks, who has one son playing college ball in Florida and another playing for WYO, was in attendance and in that theme today's special buffet included Steak. I had the Steak which Dave asked me how it was--as good as you can expect from a diner/restaurant, also enjoyed a good omelette, some side items including bacon, and finished with the Donut as was pictured by Vath. Also attached the HHI LEGENDS Team picture was taken by our Official HHI LEGENDS Waitress Danielle while standing on a chair. She's a wisecracker thus fits in well with the HHI LEGENDS Culture.

Thus it was a MEMORABLE get-together with the next HHI LEGENDS Breakfast tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 5. Also for those not totally retired from Basketball--the HHI LEGENDS 32nd Anniversary Games are tentatively scheduled for Labor Day Monday, September 2 hopefully inside at the Church if Mighty Kerr can get it for us.
