MFCB 2019: SHOUT-OUTS!!
Your MFC Blogger Jack Strap (formerly an Athletic Supporter) is back in the U.S., back in the U.S., back in the USA in Reading PA (were you thinking USSR?) with this year's edition of the World-Famous (like the Pike Cafe) Miller Family Christmas Blog (MFCB). This last year of the decade before the "Roaring 20's"--oh wait, that moniker was already used--so how about the "It'll Be Hu-u-u-ge 20's"? But we don't do politics in the MFCB and I've already digressed from advising that this year's MFCB will feature SHOUT-OUTS!!

First a serious SHOUT-OUT!! to my Most of my Lifetime Pal--Steve "Swoop" Poletti who has asked Santa to give him "his feeling, dexterity, balance, and strength back" following recovery from his 12/23 neurosurgery. This will allow Steve to get back to Division 1 Water Volleyball and other activities in this (and I quote) "recess" stage of his life. So let's all send power of positivity thoughts his way in FL!
Speaking of Steve/FL--a big SHOUT-OUT!! to the PSU Road Trip Crew as we enjoyed Homecoming Weekend also including Floridians--"Don't Be A Dick" Nick and Brother Craiger, as well as the legendary T-Pott from Georgia. It was a beautiful Fall weekend, so says our Pennsylvanians--Reitzy, Scholesy, Mighty Kerr, and Jack Strap, but those Southerners were to quote Steve "freak'in freez'in". What happens in Happy Valley, usually stays in Happy Valley--but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Reitzy leading the best tailgate we've had since the passing of our Giant Lipper (SHOUT OUT!! to Heaven to The Tailgate Master General) over 8 years ago. I just googled the Top 10 Chefs and Reitzy wasn't noted, but still deserves a SHOUT-OUT!! Gordon Ramsey was #1 and like this commercial https://youtu.be/Sivc97UXGI0.

Also on the PSU Road Trip--yours truly got to participate in the 100th Homecoming Parade with the PSU York Alumni Group with a big SHOUT-OUT!! to them for years of fun Happy Hours and Game Watches before we moved this year! We were in the Primanti's truck throwing candy out to the Kiddos and after the Parade I got to jump the line at Primanti's to rejoin the Road Trip Crew, so also a SHOUT-OUT to State College and York Primanti's!
Now a SHOUT-OUT!! to Funny Cats. I don't know why, but love the Cat Memes with the Shouting Lady (I call her Young Madonna) and there's a bunch of them, but here's one https://imgflip.com/i/3fmwh4 and if you like google more--on your own time. We have our own Funny Cat here at the MFCB--a SHOUT-OUT!! to Ellie (aka El-Bell), as well as her RIP SHOUT-OUT!! predecessors Mindy and Lola. Ellie always finds innovative new and sometimes funny places for cat naps including our laps, and is expert in getting Bradley Bean (see next paragraph) in trouble as he can't resist getting on her, but then she just lays there cutely in front of him until he gets yelled at for doing it.
SHOUT-OUTS!! to Dogs too as they make our Empty Nest not so empty as they're now our "babies". There's the aforementioned Bradley Bean, our little cocker-golden mix who is just so enjoyable, although he can sound like a meany when he sees other people/dogs. This is understandable as he was rescued from the streets of Baltimore, so who knows what nightmares he went through there. We also rescued his SHOUT OUT!! RIP predecessors Comet and Chandler, as well as our present Pure Golden Cassie (aka Big Cass) who was rescued from a puppy mill. From her experiences there she's a bit idiosyncratic with some things, but usually in a crazy delightful way. So we're big advocates of rescuing these dogs-cats for the many reasons noted at https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/top-reasons-adopt-pet
So once upon a time we had Kids at Home, but now they're all grown up and living on their own. So a SHOUT-OUT!! to Britty and Andrew who are very close to the point they have been Disney vacationing together for years. This year they ran the Disney 5K [SHOUT-OUT!!] and visited (3) of the Parks. At that same time Karen and I went to Anna Maria Island FL and then swung by Disney where we met up with them at Disney Springs. The next day we went to Magic Kingdom and got on a lot of attractions as the crowd wasn't too big.
A SHOUT-OUT!! to Britty who is like James Brown--the "Hardest Working Girl" as she goes from her challenging Master's Therapist position at Philhaven to hustling at Iron Hill in Lancaster 2 or 3 nights/week-end days a week while also making time to get to Planet Fitness and out to eat as a Foodie. So what the Heck is a Foodie?--see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foodie. Britty is also one who values experiences over things which I think is great. By the way on top of all that she's been planning her Wedding [SHOUT-OUT!!] to James Hendricks-Glazier which will take place on June 20, 2020.
Also a SHOUT-OUT!! to Andrew who is now living on his own in Camp Hill. We're very proud of Andrew for always trying new things over the years with two of the most interesting as of late being Improvisation and Roller Derby. One of his friends recorded an Improv session and he stole the show. We've been to a couple of those Roller Derbies where he Officiates and they are entertaining with many having nicknames--his is "Kermit the Grog". By day he's an Applications Developer and has overcome adversity a few times already in his career as the work is very project-oriented and Co.'s complete big projects without new ones or lose big clients leading to big restructurings or bankruptcies. He recently rebounded from one to land a job at Leidos https://www.leidos.com/
I'll throw in a few other SHOUT-OUTS before the Grand Finale SHOUT-OUT!! to Karen. A SHOUT-OUT!! to Harry Wong and his Christmas Newsletter which I applaud him for getting it done so early this year, although methinks he "mailed it in" in more ways that one :). It was also great to lunch with Harry and his better half Kathy while we were vacationing in Florida where it was "freak'in hot!". A SHOUT-OUT!! to F'in Ross who won the 2019 TCFL Championship and although I'm not involved in that anymore--I appreciate that he's kept it going since 1988. In that same regard SHOUT-OUT!! to Mighty Kerr who as the only remaining Founding Father playing at HHI (Hills Hoops Inc.) noting we had our 27th HHI Anniversary on Labor Day weekend. Finally a SHOUT-OUT!! to all the really good people I work with as CFO of CONCERN https://www.concern4kids.org/donate/, as well as by night volunteering at CPENG https://cpengroup.wildapricot.org/
The biggest of SHOUT-OUTS!! to my Lovely and Talented Wife Karen! Britty gets her "Hardest Workingest" genes from Karen as she has worked tirelessly to grow her Ruby Heart Crafts business https://www.etsy.com/shop/RubyHeartCrafts [SHOUT-OUT!!] which is clearly a labor of love for her. She's also a great Mommy to Bradley, Cassie, and Ellie, as well as from afar now to Britty and Andrew. In addition she gets to Planet Fitness almost everyday, organizes great vacations, is a passionate fan at the many sporting events we go to, makes "world class" baked goods, and even found time to recently organize a successful campaign for the Kiddos that the aforementioned CONCERN serves. Regarding the latter a heart-felt SHOUT-OUT!! to Karen and all her Friends who contributed to that great effort!
